Peggy Wireman is a consultant with a broad background in economic development, planning, and community partnerships. She holds a B.A. and M.A. in history from Wooster College and the University of Minnesota, a Ph.D. in sociology from American University and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners. She formerly directed an $8 million economic development technical assistance grant program and the University of Wisconsin's Small Business Development Center.
As a visitor, she has observed several hundred museums in over thirty countries. Her observations of the potential for better partnerships with economic development led to her current project with the Wisconsin History Foundation. This project has been promoting using museums more effectively for regional economic development in the states of Wisconsin and Washington and will result in a manual on museum-economic development partnerships.
