Questions for Your Museum
My Books

1. How do you see your museum in relationship to economic development.?

How do you define economic development?

2. What do you do specifically to contribute to economic development?

3. How do you measure what you do to contribute to economic development?

4. Do you see any conflicts between contributing to economic development and any other aspects of your museum mission?

5. Are there things that you might be doing that you are not now doing?  What?  Why aren't you doing them?  What would it take to enable you to do them?

6. Of those things that you have done to contribute to economic development, what have been  most successful?  Why?  Any hints to others about how to insure success, i.e. what are the key things you must do?

7. Have there been any things that you have done that have not been successful?  What?  What factors contributed to the lack of success?  What could you have done differently that would have made them successful?

8. How closely do you work with economic development people?  Who do you work with?   What do you do with them?

9. Are there things about museums that the economic development people don't seem to understand?  What?

10. Are there any books, articles, or other materials on how museums function that you think would be particularly helpful for a non-museum person to read?
